  10. First Integrated ISDN AppleTalk Router Unveiled

  12. Aneheim, CA--May 2, 1990--The first AppleTalk Router/Bridge with built-in
  13. ISDN terminal adapter was introduced today at Texpo 90 by Solana Electronics.
  14. The unit, dubbed "ISDN H-Server" comes equipped with ISDN interface electronics
  15. manufactured by Harris Dracon, a leader in ISDN terminal equipment technology.
  16. ISDN H-Server permits direct connection to the ISDN basic rate line and takes
  17. advantage of one full 64 kbps digital B-channel to provide economical,
  18. high-speed AppleTalk links to distant locations.  The ISDN H-Server Manager
  19. software includes a comprehensive scripting language that permits data calls to
  20. be initiated from the network.  The call progress can be monitored providing
  21. visible call status.  A full complement of security features including password
  22. access and automatic calling party identification is standard.

  24. "This is the first in a series of advanced network communications products
  25. being developed by Solana," says David Crellen, company president.  "The need
  26. for simple to use and cost effective high speed wide area networking solutions
  27. is important in the corporate environment.  We see ISDN quickly emerging as a
  28. universal public network offering that will provide high-speed data calls at
  29. the cost of ordinary voice calls."

  31. Solana Electronics is demonstrating its product at Texpo 90 by providing
  32. AppleTalk ISDN (integrated services digital network) links between Apple
  33. Computer, Northern Telecom and Harris Dracon booths.  The ISDN lines are
  34. furnished by Northern Telecom's DMS-100 central office switch.

  36. Harris Dracon, an early participant in ISDN and a major supplier of quality
  37. ISDN terminal adapters will provide the ISDN interface components.

  39. The ISDN H-Server, with a retail price tag of $3195 will be sold through
  40. qualified resellers within Solana's traditional distribution channels,
  41. according to John Giannettino, company CEO and VP of sales.  "The product is
  42. being installed in telco demonstration centers to give potential users access
  43. to real-life application demonstrations," says Giannettino.
